Director Engineering
The Engineering Department delivers essential infrastructure services to enhance community development, safety, and sustainability. The department is headed by the Director of Engineering- Eng. Katuta Mbewe. The department is broken down into several units whose key functions are as follows:
Our mandate
  1. Infrastructure Development
    • Design and maintain roads, drainage systems, and public buildings.
    • Supervise construction of airports, airstrips, and rural water/sanitation projects.
  2. Public Safety & Utilities
    • Install and maintain street lights for safer roads.
    • Provide electrical services and maintain public buildings.
 
  1. Transport & Mobility
    • Inspect vehicles/vessels for licensing.
    • Maintain pontoons, ferries, and harbors (where applicable).
    • Repair council vehicles and machinery.
  2. Project Oversight
    • Prepare cost estimates, tender documents, and contracts.
    • Implement Community Development Fund (CDF) infrastructure projects.
