Sikongo Town Council is among the districts in Western Province that qualified for funding under the Zambia Devolution support program and is implementing a first ever industrial water reticulation system in the district to supply clean and safe pipped water for the residents.
The cost of the project is at Four Million Seven Hundred Kwacha only on Co-finacing basis.
The Council through the support from the Devolution Support Program funded by world bank will finance resources amounting to Two million seven hundred kwacha while the ministry of water development and sanitation under the Drought Response Project will finance resources amounting to Two million kwacha for drilling and equipping of a water borehole.
This follows an initiative by the council to recognise and appreciate the technical expertise of Western Water utility company in the provision of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for the public in quest to ensure that construction materials, installation methods and the quality of the project comply with national and international standards.
the water reticulation system will be installed in the lower-cost residential area, high-cost residential and commercial areas for newly established planned plots marked for development as way of providing the much-needed service to support the livelihoods of the people in sikongo district, the project is expected to be completed by 30th January,2026.

Using funding from the Zambia Devolution Support Program under the 2024 funding, the Council will build a play park for the kids, playground equipment, swings, and a safe space for fun and recreation purposes.
Once, the project is complete, it will bring the community together and give our young ones a place to play and have fun.
