In response to the country’s persistent load shedding, Sikongo Town Council has taken a significant step towards harnessing renewable energy.
The council has procured and installed solar panels at the institution and other government departments, including the District Administration, District Education Board Office (DEBS), and the Departments of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Livestock.
The scope of works includes: Installation of Solar Panels, 11KVA inverter and Lithium Batteries.
This initiative follows a Presidential Directive to install solar power in all government institutions.
The project is funded by the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) budget allocation at cost of K892,000.00
This remarkable development at Sikongo Town will provide a reliable and sustainable source of energy, reducing the council’s reliance on the national grid and minimize disruptions to essential services and also contribute to the council’s long-term sustainable goals.
